Cowboy Launches Upgrade to its Revolutionary AdaptivePower™ Technology

Cowboy Launches AdaptivePower™ 2.0 Back to News Top

- For no extra effort, AdaptivePower2.0 will now take riders up 50% steeper hills and save 10% battery power on flat roads, compared to its predecessor

- Leveraging 50 million kilometers of ride data since the first edition, Cowboy's technology now makes 20 calculations per second to deliver the smoothest ride feel and make even steeper hills feel flat

- Motor performance parameters also improved via this over-the-air update

- AdaptivePower dubbed a 'Super Natural' superpower for commuters in brand new Cowboy campaign

Cowboy, the world's most advanced e-bike brand, has launched an upgrade to AdaptivePower™, the revolutionary, patented technology that enables the simplest riding experience on the market with no gears or modes.

First launched in March 2023 to critical acclaim, AdaptivePower™ enables the bike to think for itself, adjusting power based on hills, wind, or weight. Updated using 16 months of data and over 50 million kilometers traveled, AdaptivePower™ now takes riders up 50% steeper hills with no extra human effort. In addition, AdaptivePower™ comes in different configurations, specifically calibrated for the weight, dimensions and gear ratios of Cowboy's different models, ensuring optimized power allocation for the smoothest possible ride.

This intelligent power management also boosts the bike's efficiency, reducing battery usage by providing the right power at the right time, saving 10% battery power when cycling on a flat road with no strong wind or extra weight.

"This represents a new level of intelligence for all our e-bikes that already think for themselves. At Cowboy, we focus on beautiful, simple, and connected experiences and our commitment extends beyond winning awards for external aesthetics to creating intuitive, interactive experiences that enhance the future of cycling. Thanks to connectivity and over-the-air updates, even a three-year-old Cowboy model will now have a better ride feel than when it left the production line.”

Tanguy Goretti, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Cowboy.

The motor controller continuously analyzes electrical power output for optimal power delivery, while the torque sensor reacts in real time to rider input. Existing Classic, Cruiser and Cross customers will receive this groundbreaking technology via a simple, 30 second over the air in-app update in the coming days and all new bikes bought from today including Cross are being delivered with it already installed.

AdaptivePower™ launches today with its new 'Super Natural' campaign, created by the brand's internal creative studio, which compares the software to a superpower for commuters.

“The insight for this campaign came from our rider community who described AdaptivePower™ as like having a superpower. We also loved the idea that anyone replacing a petrol-powered trip with a bicycle is doing their part to save the world.”

Richard Ascott, Chief Marketing Officer Cowboy.

With AdaptivePower™ technology, as soon as the rider encounters a slope or strong headwind, the motor provides extra power exactly when needed to maintain speed, making even the steepest inclines feel flat. Moreover, the bike will also detect extra weight, like groceries, work equipment or a small child, so the rider can tackle hills and headwinds more easily, saving precious time and energy on their commute. The new, improved ride feel can be felt during a convenient at home test ride or from one of Cowboy's 250 partner retailers.

The AdaptivePower™ update comes after a packed few months of innovation for Cowboy which saw the company update its Connect software; launch its versatile Cross model and its ultra convenient trade-in program with Upway, demonstrating Cowboy's dedication to bringing the benefits of ebikes to as many people as possible.

Cowboy's rider community continues to grow, with over 67,000 riders who have now traveled more than 150 million KM in over 12 countries world-wide. Already this year, Cowboy has received the GQ Ebike of the Year Award for Cross; the Best of the Best Red Dot Design Award for its Cruiser model and been recognised by Deloitte as one of the fastest growing companies in EMEA.

1 | Based on version 1 of AdaptivePower™ taking the rider up hills of 6% gradient with no extra effort and AdaptivePower™2.0 reaching 9% gradient, based on 80kg rider at 25KPH.
2 | Based on calculations with an 80kg rider at 25kph.
